Admit “I Don’t Know”
Cultural Note: The original Chinese title is 承认”我不知道” (Chéngrèn “wǒ bù zhīdào”). The most expensive two words in trading: “I understand.” The most valuable four words: “I don’t know.”
The most expensive two words in trading: “I understand.”
“I understand why it went up.” “I understand what the whales are doing.” “I understand this news’s impact.”
You don’t understand. Not because you’re not smart — because the market is too complex. Hundreds of factors influence price. You see only a few. Even if you saw all, you don’t know when they get priced in.
承认”我不知道”,是交易认知最高级的四个字。 “Admitting ‘I don’t know’ is the highest level of trading cognition.”
Why “I Don’t Know” Is Hard to Say
Because saying it = admitting limitation. A blow to ego.
Especially after you’ve spent time in the market, developed opinions, maybe written analysis articles. You feel you should know.
But “feeling you should know” vs. “actually knowing” — that gap is the source of losses.
Predicting vs. Responding
Predicting: “BTC will hit 100K.” / “This news is bullish.” / “Whales are accumulating.” Responding: “If BTC holds above 82K, I go long with stop at 80K.” / “If news comes and price doesn’t rise, it’s already priced in — I don’t chase.”
预测式思维在赌未来。应对式思维在准备未来。 “Prediction thinking bets on the future. Response thinking prepares for the future.”
Why Admitting “I Don’t Know” Makes You Earn More
When you admit uncertainty:
- Position becomes smaller — you不敢 go heavy
- Stop-loss becomes stricter — you rely more on stop protection
- Rules become harder — you only trust rules, not feelings
这三件事,都是让你活得更久的事。 “These three things all make you live longer.”
When you feel “I know”:
- Position grows (“I know, so I’ll go big”)
- Stop-loss widens (“I know, this level won’t break”)
- Rules soften (“I know, this time I can break the rule”)
This is the complete path from “I know” to liquidation.
承认有限,是强大的开始。 “Admitting limitation is the beginning of strength.”
Texture Check:
- When did you last say “I don’t know” — about what?
- Have you pretended to know a news impact to appear professional?
- If someone asks “Will BTC go up or down next week?” — how do you answer?
