Not Acting Is Also a Decision
Cultural Note: The original Chinese title is 不做也是一种决策 (Bù zuò yě shì yī zhǒng juécè). The hardest action in trading: choosing NOT to act.
Newbies trade 10 times a day. Veterans trade 2-3 times a week. Top traders trade 5-6 times a month.
Not because they’re getting lazier. Because they’re getting more selective.
最难的不是开仓，是忍住不开。 “The hardest thing isn’t opening a position — it’s resisting the urge to open one.”
Why Not Acting Is Harder Than Acting
Trading gives you dopamine. The moment of entry is exciting regardless of outcome. Trading is behavioral addiction.
Understanding this means: “not acting” needs system support, not just willpower.
Five “Not Acting” System Rules
Rule 1: Maximum daily trades. Set a cap (1-3). Hit the cap = close trading software.
Rule 2: Trading time windows. Only check signals during specific hours. No “just checking” — “just checking” = “just opening a position.”
Rule 3: Signal checklist. Write down before opening: “What signals am I looking for today?” Only list-approved signals count.
Rule 4: 24-hour cooldown. After big loss or big win, no new positions for 24 hours. Big wins cause膨胀 (“I’m on fire”) — just as dangerous as revenge after losses.
Rule 5: No weekend trading. Crypto is 24/7, but weekends have poor liquidity and abnormal patterns. Keep weekends for rest, review, and life.
The Math of “Not Acting”
少做5笔，多赚1U。而且心态更好，风险更小。 “Doing 5 fewer trades earns 1U more. Better mindset, lower risk.”
A trader’s level = the number of opportunities they拒绝. Newbies see opportunity everywhere. Veterans filter. Masters are extremely selective — only 5-6 trades per month deserve execution.
