WhatsApp/Telegram Scam

• “Crypto VIP Pakistan” group — admin asks Easypaisa deposit
• “Gate.io Easypaisa promo” — short URL
• “Pro trader” — then asks Easypaisa transfer to “managed wallet”

Clone Site

• Site similar Gate.io — logo, layout, URL almost same
• URL: gate-io.com vs gate.io (note hyphen!)
• Easypaisa deposit → goes to scammer

Facebook/YouTube Ponzi

• “Pakistani trader millionaire” — promise 500% returns
• “Deposit ₨100, get ₨5,000” — classic Ponzi
• Fake affiliate link

Prevention — 4 Layers

1. Anti-Phishing Code

Gate.io allows custom code (e.g. “BIRYANI123”) in every real email. No code = phishing.

2. Verify URL

• Browser: gate.io only
• Don’t click email links — type manually
• HTTPS ✅

3. 2FA Google Auth

• Google Authenticator (NOT SMS)
• SMS phishing possible
• Google Auth = offline, immune

4. Never Easypaisa Outside Exchange

• P2P within Gate.io = safe (escrow)
• Easypaisa to “seller” outside = 100% scam
• WhatsApp “trader” asking Easypaisa = scam

Real Case: Pakistani Lost ₨200,000

Ahmed, 30, Lahore:

1. Joined “Crypto VIP Pakistan” WhatsApp group
2. Admin showed fake profit screenshots
3. Asked ₨50,000 via Easypaisa for “managed wallet”
4. Sent ₨50,000 → scammer
5. Scammer asked ₨150,000 more for “unlock profits”
6. Total: ₨200,000 lost, zero crypto

Prevention: anyone asking Easypaisa outside exchange = scam. 100%.
